Last week, the National Enquirer had us reeling from a morbid photo shoot in which a model was paid to pose as Whitney Houston's dead body.

This week, they take it to a whole new level: The tabloid printed open-coffin images from Whitney Houston's viewing. That's her corpse on the cover. While it is customary, in certain cultures, for family and friends to gather for a final viewing of the dead, this particular image is invasive in that the viewing was not for public consumption.

Here it is, at your grocery store checkout. The publication was certainly not invited to the funeral home in Newark, and must have paid someone for an illicit cameraphone picture.

The days of nearly $6 a gallon have come, at least according to the marquees at a few Central Florida gas stations.

According to the website GasBuddy.com, drivers looking to fill up at the Shell station in Lake Buena Vista are faced with $5.89 for a gallon of regular and $5.99 for premium. Just down the road at a Suncoast Energy station in Orlando motorists are paying $5.79 for a gallon of regular.

A Tampa mother is watching the outbreak of violence at Afghanistan's Bagram Air Base with great concern.

She identified herself as "Lisa" when she spoke to AM Tampa Bay. Her only communication with her son is through Facebook. He tells her nothing is getting in or out of the base, thanks to rioting by Afghans offended by the burning of Qaaran.

At least 49 people were killed and more than 600 people were injured when a train plowed into a platform at a Buenos Aires station Wednesday, state media said.

Emergency services director Alberto Crescenti said the number of casualties could increase, according to the state-run Telam news agency.

Passengers aboard a Continental Airlines flight bound for Houston Tuesday sprang into action to help a flight attendant having trouble with an unruly passenger. Twenty minutes after the plane departed Portland, pilots returned to the city where the FBI was waiting.

(THE BLAZE) -- President Obama showed off his vocal abilities once again tonight, singing a few lines of “Sweet Home Chicago” during the finale of a blues concert at the White House.

“We were trying to get you to help us sing that because I heard you singing Al Green,” blues great Buddy Guy urged the president from the stage, referring to Obama’s infamous performance at the Apollo last month when he sang a few lines of “Let’s Stay Together.”

“So you’ve started something. You’ve got to keep it up,” Guy said.

A reluctant Obama ultimately obliged.

“Come on… Baby don’t you want to go,” Obama sang, mic in hand, as the crowd swayed around him and the first lady cheered him on. “Oh come on, baby don’t you want to go.”

The president then held the mic up briefly for the legendary B.B. King to sing the line “… that same old place,” before Obama brought it home “… sweet home Chicago.”

(UPI) - Adele was crowned Best British Female and received the award for Best Album at the Brit Awards ceremony in London Tuesday, but it's the gesture she made during her acceptance speech that's making headlines.

Adele's second Brit Awards acceptance speech was cut short so Blur could give the final performance of the evening, prompting Adele to briefly flip her middle finger in protest. She apologized quickly after the ceremony.

"I flung the middle finger. That was for the suits at the Brit Awards, not my fans. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but the suits offended me," the BBC reported she said. The show's producers issued their own mea culpa to Adele as well, apologizing for cutting her off.

British rapper M.I.A. drew criticism this month when she made the same obscene gesture during the Super Bowl Halftime Show she was performing with Madonna in Indianapolis.

Boy band One Direction picked up the award for Best British Single for their song "What Makes You Beautiful" and Coldplay was named Best British Group for a third time. Bruno Mars and Rihanna won the awards for Best International Male and Female Artist, and Foo Fighters won for Best International Group.

Texas authorities said Tuesday they removed 11 children from a crowded home where a registered sex offender lives after they found eight confined in a small, dark bedroom with restraints tying some to their beds.

Along with the children, 10 adults were living in the one-story, 1,700-square-foot home in Dayton, about 30 miles northeast of Houston, Child Protective Services spokeswoman Gwen Carter said. One month after a raid on the house, authorities are still trying to determine how the children are related and why they were there, she said.

(THE BLAZE - Mytheos Holt) --Two TV producers recently suffered poisoning — which killed one of them — after getting on the wrong side of some local thugs in Uganda, Fox News reports.

Most details aren’t known yet about the poisoning, but what has been gleaned is that the body of Jeff Rice, one of the facilitating producers for the show, was found in Uganda, dead from poisoning. What Rice and his unnamed co-producer were doing in Uganda is not known, but they apparently were not there on business about “The Amazing Race,” the show on which both worked.

The poisoning – also an unclear topic – was apparently the result of a failed shakedown attempt by Ugandan criminals. Following the attempt, both men reputedly became very sick in a manner consistent with poison. So unexpected was the incident that even Jerry Bruckheimer films, the company behind “The Amazing Race,” had no knowledge that one of their facilitators was dead of a poisoning.
