On Sunday in the Gore mountain range in the Vail and Summit County backcountry zone, a skier triggered a dangerous avalanche slide that could have cost them their lives. With some quick thinking in survival skills they grabbed on to the nearest and sturdiest tree they could find while the avalanche carried everything in its path to the bottom. Even though the avalanche warning in the area was rated a 1 out of 5, it seems the danger is still there regardless. For more information read here.
